E for Efficiency

Snippet Of A Day In My Life

Efficiency

AtoZ Challenge
E Efficiency

Dinner time is a time that makes me most efficient. It is the time that is just before sleep time. Sleep time for kids is officially party (READ writing) time for Mumma. So this mom is willing to do anything for a happy healthy meal. Stories, aeroplane bites, flying spoons, dancing like a monkey...just anything that will make my younger one sit at one place and eat.

Have you encountered this if you are a parent? Or have you seen any other parent do something crazy just to feed their kid? What is the most efficient system you have seen?

Some of the blogs that I love from Day 4 are listed below. Do check them out.

  1. Don't have a kid of my own, but my neighbor's kid, to make her sit in one place when she comes here, that's a tough task :) I've to play cute with her, not something that's tough.

  2. Agree with you, Kids are so very finicky about eating. Splutter stutter and spit out the mutter. Only such outlandish tales keep them glue to their seats and their mouths working away.. Enjoyed the Haiku as well as the short story behind it :D

  3. Oh god. My mum did this. She would tell me story after story and entertain me, just so I'd eat! Love you post!

  8. I used to be a fussy kid. My mother did everything she could to make me eat. Now, I am better I guess. :D

  9. Oh yes, it's very entertaining to watch the parents when they are trying to feed their kids. :) One cousin had mentioned that she always puts her kid in her high chair and leaves the food on the tray in front.. sort of training the kid to eat on it's own.

  13. First of all...thanks for showcasing my blog. Don't remind me of those days. Feeding the kids was a circus. They are in their teens yet when their father is at home, he feeds them both. I kinda love it.

  15. Thanks for the plug Sfurti! I guess I was always a rather laid back kind of a mother. My kids learned to cope by never fussing about eating. SO it worked out for us. :D

  17. my bhabhi (Cousin bro's wife) has to play sheila aunty's song and some times telly tubbies to make my nephew eat !
He is ONE ADORABLE kid. I just sit and watch him when he eagerly eats his eyes transfixed to screen.
    Good one

  21. Moms need to be Efficient, Super if you know what I mean. I used to tell tall tales to my kids (all grown up now). The tales used to get taller every time with voice modulation and a bit of enacting. It was such fun!

  22. Aah! My child when he was a kid was not a fussy eater, he loved eating on his own, so I never had to do the monkey dance or cook up stories during meal times! I guess, I missed something really fun and funny time!

  23. My kids loved the helicopter coming to land in their mouths via the spoonful of mashed food, when they were little :) I used to sing and dance while feeding them and had fun doing it too...now my kids are 24 and 22 years old :)

  26. Nice one... I have seen many parents and grandparents struggle to feed their young ones.... telling them stories, running behind them from one room to other, showing them birds like sparrow, crow, pigeon or dogs and cats on roads... luckily i didn't face such a problem with my daughter... loved ur post :)

  30. I have done EXACTLY this. It only made her watch me with amusement and not swallow the food in her mouth :P

    Lovely verse at the beginning!

  32. Even though I am not a parent, I have done that for my niece...and I remember my days when my grandmom had her say in our dinner which meant that if we played extra smart, we would go to sleep hungry.
